Hello! I am N.F. Schmitt, an Iowa girly who writes romance and fantasy books. I decided that 2025 would be the year to start an author blog!
What to expect?
Personal life updates
WIP snippets
Interviewing characters in my books
A peek into my writing thoughts/muses
And so much more
What may be surprising?
I will 100% be writing in my midwesterner/authentic self
There most definitely will be grammatical errors
Consistency? Once I have a rhythm, I will have a better idea of regularity for posting
I am neurodivergent, meaning my thoughts may ramble, sidetrack & word vomit
I like to add humor to things in my life, sooo I hope I make you laugh
May not always be about books; as mentioned above, personal life updates may not always cover book stuff. If you love animals, house plants, gardening, ATVing, Video gaming, etc. you and I be vibing.
Additionally, want me to cover a topic? Drop it in the comments. There will be some hard limits I won't cover (ex: book spoilers, lol).
With that, let's get started with a little bit more about me! It is January 1st, many are starting New Year Resolutions, their "word" of the year, and other various whatchamacallits... Me, what am I doing? Well, yesterday, against my insomnia will I stayed up to midnight to welcome the New Year in. I really don't do New Year's resolutions; they have never been my thing. Now, the "word" of the year thing has kinda intrigued me... I have heard of people doing it in the past, but never with as much vigor as I have witnessed upon scrolling Threads. (If you aren't following me on Threads, you may be missing out on some more of my fun personality). If I had to pick a "word" of the year for me, it would be more the phrase "For the Plot?" Ahhhhh yes, that viral phrase: "I couldn't do that.... but what about for the plot?" I dunno why, but there is something whimsical about that to me that makes me genuinely go, "Yes, this shall spice up my life." I am, afterall, quite the homebody.
So, without further ado... For the Plot?
To add to my plot this year... I am currently working on "A Queendom of Heartbreak and Deceit" which is the 2nd book in The Courting Seasons Series following Queen Serenity and how she started as a Lady and moved her way up to marrying the heir to the largest and wealthiest monarchy. I'm quite excited for this book, as Serenity has a bit of a special place in my heart. Actually, truly, the name Serenity does. I have used that name for various characters in various books that have never seen the light of day since I was around 12-ish years old. It is only fitting the name is officially used for a character with such power/stature.

Anyways.. for the plot. The next thing is working on Tennyson's novel, his will be book 2 in The FaeVille Series, if you loved Kierian and want some extra enemies to lovers mixed with romcom, Tennyson's book will be delivering. He is my beautifully, broken soul, Raven, Fae-shifter warrior. Since we are on the train of names, how did Tennyson receive his? There is a town in Wisconsin that I drive through every so often and I have always enjoyed it's name.

Point 3... For the Plot... Anthologies! I participated in my first one this past December called "Pawliday Love," which all proceeds went to furbabies and families affected by the hurricanes on the East Coast. This year, I have been asked to participate in 2 anthologies, which I will release more when I am able to 🫶🏻 (oh cool, I didn't know I could do emojis until now, lol)

Point 4... For the Plot... I have some fun, short, spicy novellas in store for this year... and potentially some retellings. While my main focus is the points listed above, if my schedule works according to plan, I am hoping to add some additional fun projects into the works!
Point 5... For the Plot... is it just me, or are these plots becoming shorter points? lol. okay, lastly, for the plot, I am super excited for the book signings I currently have on the docket this year. If you haven't checked them out yet, you should... maybe I'll be nearby you! If you're in the midwest, predominantly Iowa or Wisconsin, theres a good chance I'll see you! This first year, I plan to keep it close to home, and then in the upcoming years, I can continue to spread out.
Alright, those were my main "for the plot" points. Maybe I rambled, maybe I'm excited, maybe you enjoy it? Lol, anyways, if you do anything special to start the New Year off or would love to get to know me better, I would love to hear about it in the comments 🖤
