Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos

ree

I currently have almost 60 hours invested in the game, to some those are rookie numbers... However, that's also some hours that could have been spent writing lol. Also, confession time, I was all excited when I saw a collie on the cover because I have rough coat collies.... we are not going to discuss my disappointment upon finding out they are border collies (nothing wrong with that herding breed... but I feel the developers made their collies look like rough coats not borders. The shelties in the game fit the look though) And if you're playing this game and wondering who I am romancing, I currently have 3 on the list: Judy, Neil & Westley. I debate on adding Aolani to the mix or not. And from the list I seen there is a character named Nikolai that has my interest piqued, but I haven't encountered him yet.

Cozy farming simulator games have the worse chokehold on me and it literally started because of Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life on the gamecube. And then I bought the Playstation version: Back to Nature... Okay, I think we can tell I have a vast collection of the Harvest Moon games that came out.

When the split occurred between Harvest Moon and the creators, you best bet your bottom dollar I went and bought Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town on release day. Actually, because of that split I was pretty reserved on the new Harvest Moon games and never bought One World, skipping straight to Winds of Antho (which according to the reddit forums sounds like was the correct decision. I read that One World walked to Winds of Antho could run).

Now, if you are already digging these gaming vibes you're probably asking yourself, "But what about Stardew Valley?" Okay, and I hear you, sooooooo I had put off playing Stardew Valley for years because of the graphics, I was a graphic snob. While I had played my dad's atari as a kid, my first gaming system was the nintendo 64, so I started out the gate with some spiffy graphics if I do say so myself. Whelp, it caused me to put off Stardew Valley for YEARS.........

Imma tell you right now, despite the creators of the OG Harvest Moon that now has Story of Seasons out has a special place in my heart, Stardew Valley literally is my all time favorite of them all. Which is crazy considering the creator, ConcernedApe based it off of Harvest Moon. I think for me it is the freedom to design while simultaneously having adult interactions. (However, I HATE those cave monsters with a passion. Actually, I just don't enjoy mining in general).

Now surprising fact, a lot of time when I am playing these games I am also binging an audiobook as I play! After the initial introduction dialogue, these farming games are not too dialogue base, so I can read without a lot of reading. Which in turn allows me time to listen to an audiobook. My current listen is Rebecca Yarros, "The Things We Leave Unfinished" I love a good emotional book that can rip my heart out and I have heard this book will do the trick.
